Small Shop Construction

This project started off with my dad wanting to have a shed built in our backyard that could be used to store outdoor equipement, and tools. To start gathering materials for this build I would walk around my neighbourhood that had many construction dumpsters and pull out anything I thought was useable, I thought I could sell, or donate. Over a year of this had passed and I was able to source lots of construction lumber, some OSB sheathing that would be used on the front and side walls, two 14’ LVLs and other various tools, and objects that I was able to sell or donate to either Habitat for Humanity, or Value Village.

We then had the shed pad poured which I helped with to tamp the gravel, and build the rebar structure. Then my dad and I built the shed which was 14’x20’ over the coming months whenever we were able to spare the time. The studs are all 2x6’s 16” on centre (OC), then we put the 3/4” OSB sheathing that I found on the front and side wall, and had to get plywood for the other side and back, and wraped it with Tyvek. We then installed pine board and battons which we later stained, and pulled wire to the shed through conduit which we had buried at the beginning of the project. We completed all of the wiring which all passed inspection, and in the shed is where I do most of the woodworking in the Made by Miller section of this website.
